Symphony X - Discografia

Symphony X é uma banda americana de metal progressivo formada em New Jersey em 1994 pelo guitarrista Michael Romeo. Seus álbuns The Divine Wings of Tragedy (1997) e V: The New Mythology Suite (2000) ganharam considerada atenção da comunidade do metal progressivo.

Em abril de 1994, no estado estadunidense de New Jersey, o guitarrista Michael Romeo, aproveitando o sucesso de seu demo solo The Dark Chapter resolveu montar uma banda. O primeiro membro a integrar-se foi o baixista Thomas Miller, com quem Michael já havia trabalhado muito nos últimos dez anos. A dupla então chamou para o conjunto o baterista Jason Rullo, o vocalista Rod Tyler e o tecladista Michael Pinella.

Gravaram seu primeiro álbum Symphony X nos meses de agosto e setembro de 1994. Sendo lançado no Japão em dezembro do mesmo ano, o álbum rendeu muito boas impressões dos fãs de metal progressivo e alguns de hard rock melódico de todo o mundo.

No começo de 1995, o vocalista Rod Tyler abandonou a banda durante as gravações do segundo álbum, The Damnation Game. Russell Allen assume então os deveres vocais, com sua voz grave, harmonia vocal e influência da música clássica. Apenas oito meses após o álbum de estréia, o Symphony X lança seu segundo disco, com o intuito de quebrar as barreiras do metal progressivo também na Europa.
